Yamaha PSR 290 USB device not recognised. No Midi connection?!

After previously connecting the keyboard with complete success, it has stopped working completly. Now whenever i plug in the UBB Midi in cable windows xp says: USB device not recognised. "Unknown Device" and is useless. Could there have been a nasty malfunction? What shall I do to fix this problem?

PSR e-403 usb device not recognized
by: George Pelosi

Hello,

What was the fix for this? Buying a new keyboard?? I get this on Windows 7, XP, Vista, different USB cables, so looks like it is the keyboard or USB jack on the keyboard.
Has anybody ever replaced one of those? I am good at soldering, but never replaced a hard wired USB.

Please let me know if you were able to fix the problem or not.

Yamaha PSR 290
by: RaghuFrmIndia

Hi Iris, Nice meeting you here.
I have a Yamaha PSR 290 which I bought back in 2004, at that time it cost me 12,000 Indian Rupee. It had just replaced psr 270 then.

I think Yamaha have stopped production of this model and now they have upgraded the model to some other serial number.

Thank you

Cheers

R

Dear Iris: If you are still interested, Yamaha's keyboard history table shows the PSR 290 as being released in 2002. Have fun!!

transfering songs/samples
by: Anonymous

first you need a midi usb cable then you need a program like sonfiler. when you are ready you can download songs and samples free from internet just by googling what you need. for example type in google search basshunter midi. you will find lots of free websites such as midisite.com. when you have found the song right click it then save to commputer. then using songfiler transfer song to keyboard. thats it. good luck.
