Just click on piano button on the right of the keyboard and choose and click on the piano instrument while the music is playing.

Yamaha PF1000

by bear

Hi,

My Yamaha PF1000 has never worked well. I've brought it into the Yamaha certified repair place at least 3 times and it is still a problem. The sound from the keyboard cuts out regularly. Tried to ignore it, but it's now totally unbearable. More off than on.

HELP!

Yamaha PF1000 Joys and Sadness....buzzing!!!!
by: Nightingale

Love my keyboard. Got it as NOS from a family that did not use it. Paid top $ because of its condition.... Into using it briefly, the keyboard shut off. Thought it was the power cord on the power strip I was using - the ground was lifted as the house is old and I used a good Belkin surge protector, but with a 3 - 2 adapter plug. However, the low D and its low/middle octave D when played forte (loud) developed a terrible buzz as if there is a crack in the soundboard of a real piano type of a sound. All other notes are fine and clear. Tried to plug in external speakers - same problem, but it is not there through headphones! Backed off on the right external speaker - problem goes away - so it has to do with overloading or a problem on the RCA/outputs to the right/treble of the keyboard. Seems the vibration is making the whole structure buzz along with the cards inside the keyboard. Could something have come loose in the transport of it to my house? It did not do this at the same levels before for a few days I have enjoyed it. I set the internal master to 127 where it delivers the whole spectrum of tone and realism while the main volume wheel physically on top of the keyboard is at 3/4. What to do? Any ideas? I will try to record all my settings and pieces to a floppy and do a reset on the keyboard yet. However, I do not think this will do the trick. Will report tomorrow. Meanwhile, please give any ideas here. Thanks!

Sustain pedal problem
by: Anonymous

Bear --- You're not crazy, mine has developed the same problem after ~ 4 years. Only happens though when I use the sustain pedal. I sure hope there's a reasonable fix.

Dear Bear: Just another thought. Try another house outlet to see if the problem disappears.

On/OFF Yamaha PF1000
by: Alfred

Dear Bear: Sounds trite, but have you CAREFULLY checked THE LEAD which supplies the power to the unit? Sometimes we might be overlooking the obvious. If it's not the lead, your problem might be resolved by a QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN other than the (Yamaha)one who has been repairing the unit and who has not been able to "see the forest for the trees". Please follow up with a post if you feel we can be of further assistance. Good luck.

Found a 3 pedal assembly for PF1000
by: Steve Kamerick

I was able to get a pedal assembly from Yamaha for my PF1000. I think all the pedals for electric grands will work, probably Clavinovas also. The problem is you will have to make your own housing to mount the 3 pedal assembly. If you are fixing a broken one, you are in great shape, use your housing. I made mine out of wood, works great. The new pedals from Yamaha are around $200 with shipping.

Pedal unit availability through Yamaha
by: Anonymous

Unfortunately, I have just called Yamaha parts about replacing my 3 pedal unit for my PF1000 and was informed they are no longer available. I am awaiting a call to see if there is another pedal unit that will work. If they call back, I will post back to you about another compatible pedal unit.

Which clavinova pedal will work
by: Dane

Hey,

I lost my PF-1000 pedal and all service centers are telling me that the pedal assembly is out of stock.

I thinking that the clavinova pedals just might work. Do any of you have a great advise for me on this matter?

Kind regads

The Dane

sustain
by: Dick Rector

Hi Lisa,

I am not familiar with your piano but if it works sometimes and sometimes not, there are a few possibilities.
First do a reset by holding down the highest white key while powering up.
If it has a lead with a plug on it, the lead of the pedal has a broken wire, so sometimes it makes contact and when you move it a bit it looses the contact.
To find out if this is the problem just move the cable a bit over the full length and see if you can 'force' the problem.
The plug-connection is a bit corroded. Clean it, also the plug itself, with cleaning alcohol and for instance an old toothbrush or something similar. If this is to no solution you better have a prof looking at it.
I hope this helps you a bit.

Dick
