Yamaha YPT-220 - Why Won't It Turn On?

by Kathy
(Minneapolis, MN )

I have a new Yamaha YPT-220 and though I had it working at first, now I can't make sound come out of it at all, with or without ear phones. I have tried pushing the Standby/On button and have tried pushing the function button until it shows Local On/Off and it is definitely on. The instructions make no intuitive sense to me at all (alright, I'm a 58-year-old woman, and technology doesn't come naturally to me) and I'm going crazy! Any ideas, short of packing everything up and hauling it into Best Buy for help?

THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Adapter left in socket---turns out this was EXACTLY the problem thank you so much! Of course nothing in the manual would have ever led to that conclusion, so I appreciate not only your quick and correct answer, but also the affirmation that the manual is hopelessly obtuse. You made my day!

Soundless Yamaha YPT 220
by: Alfred

Dear Kathy: First, if you are using a light-weight Headphone which has a mini Plug, you may have left ITS ADAPTOR still plugged in the receiving socket (Jack) of the Keyboard.
Second, your age has nothing to do with the problem (I'm a good deal older); neither has the abomination Yamaha calls a Manual (It's fecal).
If you did not leave the ADAPTOR in the unit, you should have Best Buy exchange the Keyboard for a NEW ONE. (FIY Headphone with Adaptor automatically cuts off the Speakers). Let us know how you fare. Thanks and good luck.
