Yamaha YPT 210

by Laura

One of my white keys has a chip in the front of the key, so the entire front part has broken off. Is there anyway to get a replacement key? And is there any way I can install it myself?

Thanks in advance,
Laura

YPT-210 as Midi controller
by: Anonymous

I have a sound module that has a slow and tedious process for changing from one voice to another. Could I used the YPT-200 to send program change messages to that module
For example, if I'm playing the piano (000) and I want to switch to organ (016) could I use the YPT to send a message to the module to change from one to the other?

YPT Key Replacement
by: Alfred

Dear Laura: Thank you for visiting this Forum.
You will have to do a little bit of searching on Youtube for clinics on changing Yamaha keys. After that, you will have to order keys from...............
Yamaha Parts Department (**) at (714) 522-9011 or 1 800 940 6606 to place an order
over the phone via credit card. Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Be sure to have the
Model number of the product available so that accurate information can be provided. Unless you are adept at mechanical work, I would suggest you contact a qualified technician to handle the job; or, Yamaha has a site for repair centers...............

Dead Yamaha YPT 210
by: Alfred

Dear Kevin: As neither the Adaptor nor new Batteries energize the Unit, the prime suspect could be the Power Switch. Your keyboard is relatively new. DO NOT ENTERTAIN ANY THOUGHT OF OPENING THE INSTRUMENT TO CHECK. I recommend you have it repaired by a qualified technician (preferably Yamaha-authorized) so you can continue enjoying it. The repair should not be too costly. Good luck.

Microphone for YPT 210
by: Alfred

Dear Marco: I am 99.9% sure the YPT 210 does not
have an Input for use with a Microphone. Upon checking specs, I believe it has Jacks for Headphone/External Amplifier, Sustain Pedal and MIDI hookup only. Hope this helps.

Yamaha ypt210

(malta)

can this keyboard be connected to the pc to record music played on it in mp3 format?

Does it have pipe organ sound?

Do you recommend this model or go for a better unit?

I'm a poor player but enjoy fiddling around and compose music.

Thanks

recording?
by: Dick Rector

Hi Alfred,

Any keyboard can be connected to a PC using a simple cable from keyboard HEADPHONES OUT to PC SOUNDCARD LINE IN.
If you download the free programs AUDACITY and LAME you can make WAV or MP3 recordings.

Sheet Music Stand
by: Alfred

Music Stands generally are supplied in two styles, Plastic Panel or Rod. When they are not readily available from manufacturers, you might consider making a simple one yourself from 3/16” diameter Iron or Copper Rod, or have a local workshop custom make one.

Your Keyboard has either two support Slots or two support Holes into which the Stand fits. The 3/16” diameter of this proposed Stand should fit into either type of Keyboard support aperture.

The Rod used should be approximately 29” long, including a 14” Top and two 71/2” Arms. (71/2” from each end of the Rod make bends to form a straight-topped “U”).

About 1” from the Rod ends, bend them backwards about 30 degrees in the same direction. This will eventually produce the incline for the Sheet Music. As an option, a 2” Ledge can be epoxied to the front at the point just above the bends.

Before rushing into “production” visualize, read and clearly understand these instructions. Good luck!

Sustain Pedal (YPT-210)

by Matthew Anonomys
(Tahur, NJ)

I got a brand new sustain pedal for christmas. My grandmother had said she had asked for it to go with my specific model keyboard(YPT-210). However, when I plug it in, it doesn't work. The plug will affect the keyboard if its on when I plug it it(It will turn sustain on if plugged in when its on) but when I push the pedal down, it has no affect on the sustain.

Sustain Pedal for YPT 210
by: Alfred

Dear Matthew: Standard procedure with Yamaha keyboards is usually to connect the Pedal BEFORE TURNING ON THE KEYBOARD, (AND DO NOT PRESS THE PEDAL WHILE CONNECTIHG IT). There is a sensor in the keyboard which recognizes the Polarity of the Pedal and you may be causing a reverse polarity if you do otherwise. Good luck.

"Sound Failure"
by: Alfred

Dear Jim & trollx: Check the condition of your Adaptor (if used). 1)The Output Specs may be off
2) The Plug may need cleaning 3) Check the Pin of your Keyboard. It too may need cleaning.

If the above cures your woes, please post a follow-up Forum message. Thanks and good luck.

no sound from keys
by: trollrx

Same thing here. We pulled our Yamaha keyboard out of storage, it powers up, lcd screen works, demo plays fine from speakers, everything works fine except no sound whatsoever from the keys.

At first it didn't play and we turned off and on a few times and it worked. Now nothing we do gets any sounds from the keys.

G Keys YPT 210
by: Alfred

Dear Jean: Thanks for response, I hope your warranty is still in effect, in which case you should do as Dick has suggested and send your unit in for repair ASAP. Regardless of warranty, you should NOT TRY TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS ON YOUR OWN. Ensure you continue enjoying your keyboard by having it repaired by a qualified technician. Good luck. Regards.

keys not working
by: Dick Rector

Hi,

If Alfreds good advice is not working, take your keyboard asap to a Yamaha repair-shop as it is still under guarantee.
Non working keys of the same kind, in your case all the G's, is normally a problem that can occur with much older keyboards and it can be a damaged or worn out contact 'pad' underneath the keys. That of course is unlikely the case with you kboard but still....

Hope for you a factory reset will do the job.

Dead "G's" YPT 210
by: Alfred

Dear Jean: If you have your Owner's Manual, follow instructions covering INITIALIZING, Usually this is done by turning the unit on while holding down the last white key to the right. A complete job which returns the keyboard to "Factory " condition is to turn the unit on while holding down the last white key and the last three black keys. If these suggestions work, please do the favor of posting a follow-up message so others in this Forum can learn from your experience. Thanks.

Yamaha YPT-210 Sound Problem.

by Korey
(Abilene,Tx USA)

I used my piano just a couple of times and now I have no sound. I downloaded the owners manual and did the checks it recommended but nothing. Has anyone else had a problem with this and is there anything else I could check? Also, I tried pluging in some headphones and still no sound, did not know if that is important.

Unable to turn off keyboard easily
by: John Dvorak

I have lately been having to push the on/off button over 10 times in order to turn the keyboard off. It turns on just fine, with only one push, but I've been having the problem of not being able to turn it off like it used to turn off. So I was wondering if there was a way to reset the keyboard to get it to turn off properly. Thank you!

Dead keyboard or.....?
by: Dick Rector

Hi Korey,

If you are sure the power-supply is working ok I am afraid you need a prof to look at your piano.
If also the headphones don't work, it looks like an internal amplifier problem.

Also, your piano was released in 2007. Not under a guarantee anymore if you bought it longer than a year ago but I would go to the supplier and see what they can do. You can expect a longer life from a keyboard.

Hope you can solve the problem.
Regards
Dick
