Yamaha Clavinova CVP-75

I have a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-75 and I would like to replace the floppy drive because it stopped working just lately. Can anybody provide me with instructions on how to remove the cover panel of CVP-75 in order to have access to the floppy disc drive?

Thanks!

CVP 75 Floopy Disk, or alternativa
by: Daniel F

Koichi Kido, I was wondering how the replacement drive worked for you?

Also, if anyone knows of an alternative on the CVP 75 , such as a USB reader that can replace the floppy drive..

Floppy Drive for CVP 75 Clavanova
by: Chris

If you live in Australia it is easy to purchase a replacement Floppy Disc Drive for your CVP 75.
Go onto e-bay and locate FDS Solutions. They will post you a new drive from Victoria. If you are just a little technically inclined, it is easy to fit this drive into your CVP 75. It will work like new again.

CVP 75 floppyy disk driver
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I have had the same problem some years ago. I wrote to the Yamaha HQ in Japan. They were rapid in responding, addressing me to their European HQ in Germany. But no chance. The old C75 driver is not available anymore. Just because I strongly insisted they copied a floppy disk of mine in Midi file. But this was all about. You are asking what to do with the floppy of yours (I have also plenty of Yamaha stuff I had paid for): keep it for memory. I could not find a conversion program for it. Yamaha has got it but evidently it is not available for us! Pity cause the instrument is not bad at all despite the years (more than 20 in my case).

I would say: 1) even we are few, Yamaha is denting his reputation with this lack of support
2) why we do not keep in touch as in the (unlikely bt still possible) case one of us find a solution, we can help. My reference is: mario.cornaglia@sfr.fr

Best regards

Mario

Replacing the drive
by: Anonymous

You can find these drives here in the UK at Yamaha (Depending on age & model)
I own a CVP-75 - I'm waiting for the Yamaha tech guy to come today to check mine out, I have a panel that looks like something out of a sci-fi film!!! I'm hoping it's a power problem as Yamaha have quoted...wait for it....1670 pounds!!!! Jesus!!!

It's a shame, cause' it's 20 years old and no-one in their right mind is going to pay this...

It's a beautiful piano that will end up on the rubbish dump.

Hope you are proud of this Yamaha!!

Check Yamaha UK for your parts (drive)

Good luck.

Clavinova CVP-75 - Disk driver
by: Anonymous

As I have the same problem of a floppy disk driver that has stopped work anylonger, may I ask you, once you have removed the driver what do you do? Have you found a new one to replace? If so where? Here in France they say that there is not stuff avalable anymore. I am very intrigued as I have plenty of floppy disks which are useless now. By any chance is someone aware of the possibility to convert and read those disks on a PC or a Mac (may be this is science-fiction...)?
Thank you!

Mario

Removing the lid
by: Anonymous

Underneath you will see lots of bolts and screws. There are 4 screw which release the lid, these are brass in color. As you start to unscrew you will see the lid lifting. The drive is fixed on with a few small screws - It's a simple enough job.

Make sure you use the correct fitting screw driver or else you will strip the x from the screw head.

You can also clean the perspex lid while you're at it!!
