voltage overload - Yamaha PSR 233

by Clement
(Weelde , Belgium)

What if i hook on a 16 v DC adapter to a Yamaha PSR 233 .

The adapter shows 12 v , but i measured 16,5 volt with a multimeter .

Will the keyboard be harmed , or is there an inbuild voltage regulator .

Thanks , Cle

Yamaha PSR 233 AC Adapter Voltage
by: MC

It is not recommended to use an AC adapter with a voltage that is higher than the rated voltage for your Yamaha PSR 233. The higher voltage could potentially damage the keyboard or other components.

Most electronic devices, including musical instruments, have built-in voltage regulators to protect them from voltage fluctuations or overvoltage conditions. However, these regulators are designed to operate within a certain voltage range, and using an AC adapter with a voltage that is significantly higher than the rated voltage for the device could potentially bypass or overload the voltage regulator, resulting in damage to the device.

To be safe, it is always best to use an AC adapter that is specifically designed for the device you are using and to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the recommended voltage and current ratings. If you are unsure about the compatibility of an AC adapter with your device, it is best to contact the manufacturer for more information.
