Midi problems Yamaha DGX 630

by Bazza

I recently purchased a DGX630. I have been trying to establish a midi connection with my PC but the Midisoft Downloader cannot establish a connection with the keyboard. Have uninstalled and reinstalled Yamaha Midisoft Downloader and Yamaha Midi Driver several times also spoken to Yamaha who tried to help and the parting comment was "Very unusual, have never encountered this previously - must be your PC".

Any answers out there??

Need to use Yamaha Midi Cord

I have a PSR e323 and had the same problem but was using an inexpensive Midi Cord from Ebay. ($8). I ordered an Yamaha Cord ($50) and it worked and the software program worked. You do need to put the keyboard in on in the pc mode.

possible solution
by: Anonymous

I have a different keyboard, but got the same message. The musicsoft uploader couldn't communicate with the instrument. What I learned was that the UX16 midi USB cable I was using had to be attached to the keyboard OPPOSITE what the indicators said. In other words, the "OUT" jack went into the "IN" port and vice versa. Good luck.

Keyboard connection

Just set one up and had the same problem. Make sure that your instrument source is the keyboard and not the default file.
