guitar pick stuck in keyboard

by Susan Hayes
(Richmond, VA)

I lost a guitar pick under one of the keys in my Yamaha M08. It is not visible from the top of the keys. 2 of my keys have stopped working as a result. Any ideas on how to get it out?

My way of removing from under the keys
by: Anonymous

I dropped a paperclip and it slipped down between the keys. I lifted the keyboard up from the back and kept leaning it forward until I could see the paperclip with a flashlight. Then, using another paperclip that I bent to make a hook on one end, I was able to gently nudge the stuck item on edge and with slight side pressure to hold it there, pulled it out I have a very slender pair of tweezers that I used to reach between the keys and pluck the paperclip out. Be careful because there are electronics below the keys and you don't want to damage them. This needs about 4 hands so get someone to help you hold the keyboard in just the right position while you use the flashlight, paperclip, and tweezers if you decide to try it. Good luck.

professional servicing necessary
by: Karen A

I've just had to have the same problem dealt with in my Yamaha P200. I had to have the keyboard professionally taken apart and the pick removed. It cost $140 but it had to be done. Annoying, I know. You're machine may be more user-serviceable, I don't know.
