Yamaha YPT 320 Review

Here's my review of the Yamaha YPT 320.

This is a good keyboard for beginners, folks who are on a budget, or anyone looking for a basic keyboard. Are you looking to buy a keyboard for a child or student? The Yamaha YPT320 is worth checking out. The keyboard sells for just under $150 without a power supply and stand. But add these accessories and it costs more.

Many piano teachers recommend an 88 key weighted keyboard for those learning to play piano. However if you're buying an instrument for a child and you're not sure whether they will remain interested in playing the piano, a cheaper keyboard like the Yamaha YPT 320 is a good choice. When you're sure that your child has interest in playing the piano and wants to go further you can invest in a more expensive instrument.

Yamaha YPT 320

The Yamaha YPT320 comes with a 61 key touch sensitive keyboard and 32-note polyphony. It features 482 instrument voices with 361 XGlite voices. For a keyboard of its class, these voices sound pretty good. And I like the fact that there are so many to choose from. You can add different types of reverb to the voices for more variety.

The keyboard also has 106 accompaniment styles and 102 built in songs, as well as 12 drum kits and a sound effect kit. The sound effects are very nice and include barking dog, creaking door, running water and lots more.

One feature I really liked was the special 2-track easy recording feature. This is great for composing and practice. You can record two tracks on your keyboard and have them play back. You can save up to five of your original songs.

This feature is always one of my favorites in portable Yamaha keyboards: the Portable Grand Button. With the press of a button you can instantly call up the Yamaha grand piano sound and put your entire Yamaha YPT320 keyboard in piano playing mode. This saves time and is very convenient.

If you're learning to play piano or keyboard you will find the Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) feature very useful. This includes an advanced set of helpful learning tools built into your instrument. With the Y.E.S. feature you can teach yourself to play piano. Follow the easy lesson steps and master the different songs. There are lessons for the left hand, right hand and both hands simultaneously.

Overall, this is a great keyboard for the price. I highly recommend it. Go here to buy a Yamaha YPT 320 keyboard. Check it out, read customer reviews and decide whether or not it is right for you.
