Replacing the Yamaha Motif Data Wheel control is pretty easy, There is no soldering involved. The control comes already soldered to a board that has a 4 pin jack. Open your unit's top, remove the faceplate, gently unplug the old control and them remove it. Replace with new control and button everything up. Took me about 20 minutes (once I located the correct Allen wrench for the faceplate removal). The part ran ~$27 from Yamaha.
