Yamaha KX5 Power Supply

by Jerry

Hello,

I need a DC power supply for a Yamaha KX5. Is there a source to buy one, or can I substitute the Yamaha Power Supply with one locally available with the same specs? If I can substitute, what are the specs?
Thank you.

KX5 power supply
by: Jerry

Thanks for the responses ... All sounds interesting, but for the gigs that I use the KX5, I'm now pretty stationary - on a stool (age will do that). So going wireless isn't all that important to me. I do have a wireless rig (Limex) and found that as the batteries weaken in the transmitter, and before the indicator light warns you, it mis-reads the midi signal. That's a no-no when performing so I feel secure with the cable.

Use of a PA-130 power supply
by: Anonymous

in the kx-5 manual,it shows a 'battery snap" that looked to me to be similar to a 9 volt battery clip. that's where you'd tap in with a power supply. one could take a PA-130 and either cut the end off and solder in the correct 9 volt battery clip, build an adapter to convert the PA-130 to the battery clip, or install a jack into the KX-5 for the PA-130 to plug into. No matter how you do it, the power wires could be routed through your strap just like the MIDI wire is.

My KX-5 will arrive in the mail this coming week. Although I plan to run it with 2100 mAh hybrid Ni-MH cells, I will be looking into other ways to power ti as well.

All that said, I also think all wireless is the way to go.

MY BAD ...
by: Jerry

Talk about not being observant ... the KX5 does not have a socket for a power supply - batteries only. I was tired of worrying about batteries and I thought the KX5 could operate with a power supply like my Casio AZ-1.
