Yamaha Clavinova CLP230 - works but does not work!

My Yamaha Clavinova CLP230 works in Grand Piano mode, but none of the other buttons work. What could be wrong, and is there a way to reset this?

Dear H IF your unit is anything like a PSR series unit, try two separate ways for a Reset. The first will perform a Partial Initializing:
1) Turn the Unit OFF, then holding down the last White key, turn the Unit ON again. This will erase all Panel User Settings, Registration Memory, User Songs, Style File. This means all your backed up data.
For a total "Back-to-Factory" Initializing:
2) Turn the Unit OFF, then holding down the last White Key plus the last three Black keys turn the Unit ON again. This will erase everything, literally restoring the keyboard to “Factory, Out-of-the-Box” condition. (Everything, including MIDI downloaded info will be erased).
The above, as mentioned, applies to PSR series units. Try it anyway as no harm will be done to yours. If the suggestions work, could you please post a message in this Forum, so other members can benefit from your experience. If the actions do not work, hopefully some other kind owner of a CLP 230 will help. Keep well and good luck.

Clavinova CLP230 works in Grand Piano mode only

I have the same problem - namely that Yamaha Clavinova CLP230 works in Grand Piano mode, but the other buttons work stopped working.
Neither of the reset options solved the problem. Any other suggestions for what caused this or how it can be fixed? Thanks.

Thank you very much. This solved my problem very simply.
Had been using midi to computer and something stopped the keyboard from functioning.

I have the same problem

I have a CLP240 with the same problem (I haven't been using midi cables). I have tried the reset advice but this hasn't worked for me either - any suggestions?!

metronome button stopped working

Help please...love the metronome feature and the piano is only 5 years old but it has stopped working. everything else works great. so sad. should i try the reset? if so, which are the "last keys"? high or low? thanks for the help.

Possible Solution to Control Panel Malfunction CLP-230/240

Yamaha Bulletin No. 463 states that there is a software problem. The permanent fix is to exchange the Program ROM or the DM Circuit Board.
Yamaha Bulletin No.460 1/19 states that there is a temporary service response which says to execute factory set in TEST MODE, then EXIT TEST MODE.
