Indian Percussions

by Ashish Jha
(India)

Hi,
I have bought a Yamaha PSR I425, I was told by the distributor that it has all the Indian Percussions like tabla, Mridangam. i really has but the problem is all those comes in VOices but i thought it would be in styles so that i could play with those.

but now i have seen that i cannot play indian styles like Teentaal. keherva, or dadra along with the other voices.

If you have any solution to this problem please let me know.

My email id is : ashish.jha@live.com

Thanks
Ashish Jha

Indian percussion

Hi Ashish,

Not familiar with your keyboard and only a little with the music you mentioned. BUT! On most keyboards you can switch off the ACMP (accompaniment)that switches off the other voices in the style and will leave you only with the percussion instruments.
Hope this helps you.

Hi Rector,
I know about the accomp mode, but my question is not that. my question is. in my
PSR I 425 has some percussions in voice mode i just need to press a single button and it begins to play like a style file and i can also change the tempo but my question was how can i play voices with those rhythms when the already are in voice mode (as they should be in style mode) hope this time it is clear..

Indian Percussions

Dear Ashish: I read with interest your message exchanges with Dick Rector, and would like to know if you contacted the "distributor', or Yamaha's India main site to discuss your question. I am aware that Yamaha designs some keyboards for their Indian market, but I, like Dick am not familiar with your keyboard. My first impulse question is: Are you finding it difficult to play the instrument the way it is functioning? What difference do you find in YOUR PERFORMANCE even if you are getting the Indian Percussions in the Voice (Melody - Right hand) mode, so long as you are using your left hand to correctly play the Accompaniment? Is it possible that your keyboard is simply designed that way? Please understand that my questions are posed only to elicit info from you so other Forum members can learn from your experience. In the final analysis, your best bet is to contact the distributor, or Yamaha India. Thanks.

tabla as style
by: sureshpai-dubai

dear friend, did you get the answer? I have the same query like- when you play a song in a voice(melody) mode, how you can avail tabla beats as a accompaining style for that melody?
