How do I use auto accompaniment on the Yamaha MO8?

by Mary
(Hawaii)

Just purchased a Yamaha MO8 due to 88 keys and the great sounds. I was used to playing PSR2700 with finger chord auto accompaniment. Can't find it or don't know how on the MO8. How do you use auto accompaniment on the MO8? It is difficult to understand the manual. Please help.

Thank you.

PSR 2700
by: Alfred

Dear Mary: I don't mean to be generous with your money. but if you still have the PSR 2700, can it not be repaired? I do not remember what your original problem with it may have been, but you might look for a REPUTABLE TECHNICIAN in your area who can repair it.

Dear Alfred and Anonymous,
Thank you for taking the time to address my issues.
Yes, I was upset that the MO8 didn't have auto accompaniments, but I am getting a little used to this machine now. Still, I regret that I didn't choose something else. The MO8 has wonderful feeling keys, but I think it has more voices and styles that are unnecessary even for the more advanced players, which I am not. It should have had more rhythms than these weird sounds that most would not use. I wanted a machine that I could enjoy, but I feel that I have to work at this machine. I wouldn't advise anyone to get the MO8.

MO 8 Accompaniment
by: Alfred

Dear Mary: From what you say, I believe the Mo8 is a unit for the "more advanced" players, which I'm pleased to note you must already be. Your ability to co-ordinate the Timing and Fingering with your left hand while you play is a sure sign you will easily continue to enjoy your new keyboard. Once again , congratulations!

There is no accompaniment
by: Anonymous

The Problem is that their is no accompaniment in the mo6. It is a totally new and different soundboard than the PSR's. This gives you a chance to create your own song, chords, bassline, ect. Sorry, it was pretty upsetting for me as well when I found it i didn't have the accompaniment. But you get used to it

Yamaha Mo8 Accompaniment
by: Alfred

Dear Mary: I believe you are the same lady with whom I had a pleasant exchange of posts, recently. Congratulations on your purchase! I am not familiar with the Mo8, but IF this new unit is anything like the Yamaha PSR series, look for and activate the following:
1) Accompaniment Control. The Display should show when it is ON, and you keyboard should be automatically split (I believe at F#2). This assumes you will then be happy playing in the Piano mode.
2) If you wish to change to any other Voice(s) available, press the VOICE Button and select whatever instrument you desire while it shows up in the Display as you scroll with the Dial/ Category/Keypad controls.
3) Try to follow the typically badly-edited instructions given in Yamaha's Owner's Manual
4) Get back to me through this Forum if you need further help, or some other owners of the Mo8 may come to uour rescue. Good luck!
