I almost have the same problem but when i connect the cable my laptop does recognize it but when i get to the music downloder and i check the connection it says failed. And the usb cable does not come with a cd or the yamaha psr e323 mentions it in the manual. I am totally lost just like you. Am really sorry i cant help you a lot but try using different usb ports i have about four of them on my laptop try using others and if it does recognize it try using only that one b/c it seems to remember the one you first time used it. Hope it works out for you. Good Luck!

Midi connection
by: Mike

Dear Alfred
Thank you for your comment. I don't have a CD with the midi cable, just the cable. I have downloaded driver software called Musicsoft Downloader, but the problem persists. Whatever would be on a CD (if I had one!) seems to be what is missing. Maybe I could find the necessary download on the internet? My keyboard manual descibes the transfer of data via Musicsoft Downloader but simply says it can be done. Whenever I've added new hardware to my computer in the past, such as a camera, the computer has recognized it and assigned a drive number. With the midi cable it is not recognized at all
Best wishes
Mike

PSR E 323
by: Alfred

Dear Mike: Check the Owner's Manual of your unit. If an Accessory CD ROM is mentioned, it must first be loaded into your computer in order to haved the USB patch cable work. Read and understand the sequence of keyboard and computer
link up. Hopefully the CD ROM (Driver) is the step you overlooked. Good luck.
