DGX-230 and DGX-220 - A difference?

by Derek
(Montreal, Canada)

Hey,
Is there a difference between the Yamaha DGX-220 keyboard model and the Yamaha DGX-230 model? From what I've read/seen, they both look the same, but I'm not 100% sure.
Thanks!

Of Course there's a difference. If there wasn't, there wouldn't be a DGX-230! They'd have the same name!

What are they?
by: Anonymous

I thought it was a good question. I'm wondering the same thing myself. Anonymous enlightened us that of course there's a difference, perhaps you could elaborate and tell us what they are?

I know!

I have found out that the Yamaha DGX-230 is a newer version of the model DGX-220. So basically, they're the same thing. I'm guessing that the Yamaha DGX-230 is a more tuned/improved version, however.

Difference from Yamaha site specs
by: Anonymous

All I could find by comparing specs in the Yamaha site:
230 has extra :
10 Accomaniment styles ( 160 compared to 150 )
300 song music database.

All else seems same.

Lightly weighted keys is a difference
by: Anonymous

One more difference it seems... the 230 has the lightly weighted keys and by pressing harder, it's louder ... looks like the 220 doesn't have that ... please correct me if I'm wrong.

more difference

Both are touch sensitive.

In DGX 230 the lower octave keys are heavier, whereas the higher octave keys are lighter, just like a real piano.

(Thats what the manual says, I dont feel much difference. Then again, I am a beginner n00b. )

Light weighted keys
by: Anonymous

the keys of the 230 are light weighted, where as the ones of the 220 are not; besides that they are almost similar.

The DGX-230 is the DGX 220 but there was some beats removed for example: HousMsk. this beat was only on the DGX 220 until they removed it and other beats and voices and renamed the Keyboard DGX 230. There was also improvement within the process of renaming the DGX 220.
