yamaha psr-85 volume pedal

hello there, i just bought the yamaha fc7 volume pedal and it did not work, is there a specific volume pedal for this keyboard? or what should i do to have this pedal work on my keyboard

Dear Marvin: It's always advisable to plug in any foot pedal BEFORE TURNING ON POWER FOR THE KEYBOARD. Try this advice and let us know what happens before you are sure the pedal is defective or is the wrong one. Good luck.

Hi Marvin,

Did you 'assign' the pedal to be used as a volume-pedal? If not, the keyboard might see it as a sustain-peal. (that is a default setting)
Your manual will tell you how to do it.
