Yamaha PSR450 sustain feature not functioning

is there any way that we can adjust the sustain settings for the PSR 450? Coz mine is not working even there's a foot switch connected. I checked the switch and its working on other keyboards.

Sustain Pedal

Do the following EXACTLY:
1) Connect the Pedal to your Keyboard. DO NOT
PRESS THE PEDAL WHILE DOING THIS.
2) Connect your Adaptor* to the wall outlet.
3) Turn on your keyboard. (Batteries or
Adaptor*).
4) Play a melody WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE PEDAL.
5) Play a part of the melody, then step down on
the Pedal.
If you obtain the result you want, the above standard procedure has correctly sensed and applied the right Polarity of the Pedal. You may have been inadvertantly linking the Pedal "in Reverse Polarity". Hope this info helps.
