Yamaha Portasound PCS30

All the white 'A'keys and
all the black 'E' flat keys
have no sound!
Can I fix this myself?

keys not working

Hello Jas,

This keyboard was released in 1984 and the problem is most likely the 'contact' underneath the keys, especially when all A's and E-flat are not working.
So to speak, 1 contact serves all the keys of the same kind (in the different octaves).
If this is the case, finding a replacement will not be easy. If it is at all possible,it will be definitely costly to repair and to replace it is for sure NOT a DIY job unless you are a skilled person in this matter.
Considering the age of this Portasound....
What can I say.

Keys with No Sound

Thank you Dick for the information. This seems to be a very common fault.

I knew the Portasound PCS-30 GM was old but the young kids did like playing on it with the music cards.

However, I do have two other yamaha keyboards, the larger one being a PSR-225GM which is also quite old now. So far all keys on here play OK although the keys do seem to make a 'clicking' sound when pressed with no sound on.

Think it's time I thought about a new up-to-date keyboard. Once again, many thanks for your help.
