Yamaha MO6 Split and Octave Up/Down

by MIKE
(PITTSBURGH)

CAN THE OCTAVE UP/DOWN FUNCTION OF THE MO6 BE USED TO RAISE/LOWER ONLY HALF OF A SPLIT KEYBED WITHOUT AFFECTING THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SPLIT? I.E. I WANT TO HAVE MY LEFT HAND BASS SOUND CONSTANT, AND BE ABLE TO SHIFT MY RIGHT HAND SOUND UP OR DOWN OCTAVES WITH THE BUTTON, WITHOUT ALSO SHIFTING THE BASS SIDE CORRESPONDINGLY.....

ANOTHER EXAMPLE....

SAY I HAVE A LEFT HAND BASS SOUND GOING BELOW MIDDLE C,
AND TRUMPETS ABOVE MIDDLE C
AND I WANT TO DO 2 TRUMPET HITS, AN OCTAVE APART, AND I'M LAZY SO I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE SAME PHYSICAL KEY TWICE, WHILE HITTING THE OCTAVE UP BUTTON. HOWEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO RAISE MY BASS UP ALONG WITH THE TRUMPETS.

IS THIS POSSIBLE? I THINK IT IS NOT.

mo6 split octave

Yes, I ran into the same problem. The manual notes the voice patch doesn't save the octave information. Even if you save the patch as a user patch shifted and octave the patch will still pull up as what ever your current octave setting is.
