Yamaha MM6 recording without accompaniment

I want to record and have the Finger Button on so that I can play chords, but I don't want the accompiniment playing. I always get some rythym of drums and bass, either that or nothing at all. I seem to have tried everything, but still can't get it to work. Many thanks for any help.Robert
