Yamaha DGX 640 - Midi controller??

by Jose
(**)

Good Morning,

My question is if the Yamaha DGX 640, via its USB to Host connector, works as a midi controller compatible with music and audio software as Pro Tools, Logic, Reason??

I've been interested on buying it.

Thanks in advance,

Jose

Sure!

Hello!
It works as MIDI device. Only one thing you need for it is the Yahama MIDI driver, which is included in CD.

iPad Camera Connector Kit
by: Anonymous

Hello,

I found a way to interface this- You just need to get the iPad camera connector kit which retails for about $30 and you will be able to hook USB to your iPad as well as have a slot for SD memory card. I have been able to successfully use my iPad and Yamaha SDGX640 with this.

Specific settings?
by: Anonymous

I too have a Yamaha DGX-640 keyboard. I have the iPad 2, camera connection kit, and the USB cable to connect. When I plug my keyboard into the iPad it says "The connected USB device is not supported". Are there specific settings I should check to fix this?

USB device not supported
by: Anders

I also get this message when I connect DGX640 to the iPad through the camera interface: "The connected USB device is not supported".

Since a special Yamaha driver is needed when you connect DGX640 to Windows, I assume that Yamaha has not bothered to use the generic USB MIDI driver that all devices would know about.

But apparently someone got it working, according to the previous comments. If you have any hints on what you did, it would be appreciated! Thanks
