Yamaha CVP-505 says drive is busy when recording to a flash drive

I have 2 questions.

I can record audio files to a flash drive for about 3 minutes and then it says drive is busy and quite recording. When I check the properties it says there are at least 300 minutes available so it is not because the flash drive does not have room. Can you tell me how to solve this problem? I wanted to make CD's for piano students this year and this has become a real obstacle.

Also, I cannot seem to get it to record loud enough. I have adjusted the volume to the max on the digital screen. The wave file will play softly on computer and the sample CD's I made play OK in a CD player but you have to turn the volume all the way up to get a medium volume. Is there a way to increase the volume so it records loud enough? Thanks for any help with these 2 questions.

Thanks for feedback, Scorbi

Thanks for your feedback Scorbi.
I solved the problem by deleting everything from the 4 gig flashdrive. It seems to work fine now. However, I still cannot get much volume in the recorded songs even though I have the volume bar set as high as it will go. I am using a wave editor program to increase the volume and save it to my hard drive like that.

If someone can tell me how to get good volume directly recording to flash drive without the extra step of opening the file in a wave file editing program, I would sure appreciate it!

Recommended USB device
by: Scorbi

Hye

Now I don't have a Clavinova CVP-505, but I have ordered one and it should be delivered next month.

1.) Do you use one of the recommended USB devices (tested by Yamaha)? http://de.yamaha.com/de/download/? language=de&asset_id=31512&product_id=1040751&category_id= 16086&locale=de_DE&1321902612&mode=download

2.) I know this problem with compactflash cards on a digital camera. If you don't have formated the device with the camera, you can get such a problem. Is it possible to format the USB device with the Clavinova? If so, did you try to format the device first with the CVP-505?

I hope I could help you a little bit.

Cheers
Scorbi
