Yamaha Clavinova on/off issue

The machine turns itself off and back on while in use. Can this be fixed? We've had this clavinova for several years and haven't had problems until recently.

power up
by: Dick Rector

Hi Ronda,

I would also check carefully the power-lead.
Unplug it and check that there is no metal sticking out ANYWHERE. If it does, it is DANGEROUS and get a new one.
If doesn't, power up and move or gentle shake the cable. If that triggers the on/off as you have mentioned, a wire in the cable is broken. Obvious places are near the wall-outlet or where the cable is connected into the keyboard because quite often it 'hangs' there in a sharp bend.
I hope for you it is as 'simple' as that.

Let us know please.
Regards
Dick

Clavinova on/off issue
by: Alfred

Dear Ronda: Yes, the unit can be fixed. POSSIBLE cause COULD be an internal component heating, failing and recuperating; or, loose (unsoldered/
broken)wire making intermittent contact while you are playing the keys (physical movement). Have a qualified technician check and repair the instrument. If my long distance diagnosis is correct, the cost should not be too high. Good luck, and please come back wiith your followup. We would all like to know how you fare. Thanks.
