by debbie strother
(perryopolis, pa)

I have a yamaha clavinova and when I plug it in it gets power but there is no sound. Is there another plug or something that it needs. It was given to me.

Clavinova

Dear Debbie: Thank you for contacting our Forum. Get back to us with a Model Number. It may help some other member(s) who own the same unit to come to your aid. "Long distance diagnosis" is at best a set of guesses at remedies for any ailing unit. No Sound w/confirmed Energy Input can range from defective Power Supply all the way to blown Speakers, all of which require TESTING by a QUALIFIED ELECTRONIC PIANO/KEYBOARD TECDHNICIAN. The simplest action you can take is to ask the individual who gave you the unit if there are any initial steps you must take (Switch/Button to be activated)to produce sound. This coupled with an Owner's Manual should help. Two other actions you can take 1) Check and remove if there is a Headphone Adaptor unintentionally left in the Jack (Socket); 2) Simultaneously press the last White Key PLUS the last three Black Keys WHILE TURNING ON THE POWER. This latter action is what Yamaha calls a total Initializing, but is not likely to cure the problem. Please add a post with the model number. Hopefully someone will contribute additional solutions. Keep well.

Speaker issue
by: Alyson

If it is the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-220 there is a switch at the bottom the the piano that says speaker. If it is off...well you know.. Lol try that :)
