Yamaha Clavinova cvp 20 fuse box location?

by bob
(san diego)

There are no sounds coming out of our Yamaha Clavinova cvp 20 (bought in 1992) after the kids spilled a drink on the keyboard. Where are the fuses located and where can I get new fuses? Or, is it something besides the fuse(s)?

(I opened the cover, but no fuses in sight. I am not at all versed in anything electrical or mechanical, so if you can give as many details as possible, it would be much appreciated.) Thanks, Bob

Same Problem
by: Karen

Hi Bob,

I seem to have the same problem. I was just wondering if you ended up finding a resolution to your problem. If you have, could you please get back to me. I'd be very grateful.

Regards

Karen

Spills on keyboard
by: MEB

I too have the problem of a wet keyboard. It has totally ruined the playability of my CVP 5. It now makes terrible noises when the keys are depressed. My husband is a great electronics tech, so he took it apart and cleaned all contacts and even strengthened some sauders on the boards. Alas, to no avail. All I can do is replace the whole piano or try replacing the keyboard on minr. The part is $699 from Yamaha. I could probably replace my whole piano for that - because it is such an old model - first year of Clavinovas (1985).
Good luck with yours.

Cvp 20 issues
by: Anonymous

The fuses on the CVP 20 are under are under one of the circuit boards in the left hand side. If you have opened up the keyboard you will see the left hand speaker. Next to that is the transformer. Next to that is your power supply board (the bottom board) on top if the is another board labelled cvp20. The fuses are on the bottom board. It is possible that you have done damage to the boards. If you replace the fuses and they blow again you will need a service engineer to look at it. As it is so old some of the parts are no longer available.

You could sell it for spares for about £50 on eBay!
