PSR 270
by: Alfred

Dear wideboy: Your PSR 270 was released by yamaha in 1999. Even under normal circumstances, use by its original owner it COULD develop at least a few failures contributing to only the Dusplay "flash" and no further action. The fact that you used a brand new Adaptor which produced the "flash" is an indication that there is current being supplied. Now for the less encouraging info. You invested in a new Adaptor and should stop there. You have to decide if you want to spend more trying to bring the unit "up to snuff" and this could be unfeasible. Contact Yamaha or a Yamaha authorized Technician to find out what is involved and what the repair will cost. I would be surprised if you decide in favor of repair. Good luck.

Confirm they're compatible!
by: Anonymous

Are you sure it's compatible? Double check the ratings of voltage and current supply required and make sure the polarity's correct. At least some yamboards will flash briefly in the display if you hit the switch with no power connected. You may be trying to power a 12v board with a 9v supply, for instance. Worse consequences possible if the polarity is backwards, or if you're trying to supply dc to a device that needs ac or vice versa.
I have several yamboards ranging from psr-12 to s30 pro synth. They all take 12v, 1.5 to 2 A (1500-2000 mA) with positive in the center lead.
Whenever I see a Yamaha PA-5 or PA-6 supply at used sale, I buy it.
