sustain pedal

How do you even turn the sustain pedal on? I've tried what it says in the book, but I don't think I'm reading it right. I'm technologically challenged and this is driving me nuts. Can anyone help?

What sustain pedal are you using? In my experience sustain pedals do not come with an on or off button. You simply have to connect it to the right "hole" on your keyboard where it says sustain pedal, foot pedal, foot switch or hold. You may have to check the settings on your keyboard to make sure that a specific control pedal input is assigned to sustain pedal. It depends on your keyboard. What does it say in the book?
