Style Question about the Yamaha PSR-S900

Hello,


I purchased a PSR-S900 Yamaha keyboard and I've been experiencing a glitch with the styles from time to time - for example - When I switch from one style to another, the drum sound dissapears and I have to turn off the keyboard to re-set.

Is that a glitch ?

nabili ko ng 58.000 na brand new.
benta ko ng 18,000 with free midi files and diskets,and case .sama ko pati cable wire na 10 meters. Yamaha PSR1000 din..rush sale!!
nakabili na kasi ako ng bago PSR-3000.
di ko na ginagamit.sayang lang.

Hi John,

Sorry I can't, I don't make styles and I don't have the same keyboard as you, but if you don't get an answer from someone else, try PSRTUTORIAL.COM and put your question there.
Many owners/users of PSR-S900 and other mid- and upper models on that forum. One of the great 'guru's, Michael Bedesem also wrote a good and free to download style-making program.

Good luck with your problem.

Hallo Alfonso and Sam and all others who are interested!

As far as I know (not so much) all style files for the Yamaha keyboards must have an extension!
For the PSR series (PSR stand for PortaSoundRegular meaning 'with normal size keys')the extension is .STY
For the TYROS it is .PRS and there are a few more like .SST - .PCS and others.
Sam, your keyboard will not see or play the Tyros ....PRS styles unless you change the extension into .STY and you can do that by hand on your computer. SAVE THE ORIGINAL FIRST!!!!!
But my advice to make life easy:
Go to www.svpworld.com/dnn/software/stylemanagerseries/midiplayer2 and download this fantastic and FREE program by Michael P. Bedesem.
FIRST the whole package and than install the latest update over it!
This program, and many others from the same author, I have been using for years now and I have converted thousands of styles from all kind of resources and brandnames. Have a good look at this program, it will do the job for you in seconds and does a lot off other things specifically for your model.
Only very occasionally it will not convert a style to a useful one for your keyboard.
In some cases you have to 'tweak' your styles to your own taste, I find the bass and drums in general too loud but that is a personal meaning.
Alfonso, I am sorry, if you files don't have any extension at all I have no idea how you keyboard can recognize them and I have no idea how you can deal with them.

HI Dick: I have some files I bought that do not have any kind of extesions,the type of file is listed only as File. I can play them on my Style player on my PC but they are not even recognized by my PSR S900. Is there anything I can do to convert these files to STY entesion. If they can be change I need to know how to change then.

Hi there, and all of you who are looking for thousands of free styles!!!
Go to psrtutorial.com and you will find all the styles in the world for free for all Yamaha and most other brand keyboards.
There are also links to other useful websites.
Be aware that you have to tweak (adapt)styles sometimes for you own model keyboard, it is easy, in most cases change the extension xxxxx.??? in xxxxx.STY if your instrument is using that.
But a lot of them are done already by other players and performers.
MIND please and be a good sport!
The styles are for your own personal use only and not for commercial activities!
Have a lot of (musical) fun.

Hi,

Maybe you know by now. But just in case!
I had success by just changing the extention .??? to .STY (for my PSR 2000) or whatever your keyboard uses as style-extension.
This worked also for a lot of styles from other keyboard Brandnames but sometimes not at all.
Quit often you have to 'tweak'(adapt) the styles as they are made for another model keyboard and don't sound the same on yours. Bare also in mind that some styles are to BIG for the memory of other keyboards and will NOT load. In this case you can download for free a little programm called 'VisualStyler' to take out some parts of the too big styles (intro and ending A or B or C for example) most at the time this will do the job.
Hope this works for you as well.

I have YAMAHA PSR-S900 KB and I got Tyros1 and Tyros2's custom style from my friend and is not played on PSR-S900.
Can any one tell me how to make it work or it not posible?

I have Problem with My keyboard (PSR-S900), it can't play MIDI when I try to play from my Flash Disk..or maybe there are MIDI setting that we have to set before playing?

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ALL THE TYROS 2 STYLES IN WINAR
ZIP..OPEN IT UP SAVE THE STYLES TO OYUR DOUC'S
THEN OPEN UP EACH STYLE CAT I.E ROCK/POP OR
ENTERTAINMENT ETC THEN MOVE STYLES ONTO A FLASH
DRIVE -PUT FLASH IN BACK OF S900 TURN ON PRESS USB
BUTTON TAB TO USB AND THE STYLES WILL BE THERE.
SO THAT ADDS ANOTHER 90 PRO STYLES TO YOUR KEYBOARD...IF STUCK MY EMAIL IS tomo51atmsndotecom
