Sticky or broken keys on Yamaha CVP203

by Fred
(Hanover Ontario CA)

How do I go about replacing a broken key on CVP203. There are several "sticky" keys which I suspect are cracked and will need replacement.

Sticking keys
by: Dick Rector

Hi Fred,

If nothing serious mechanical happened to your keys, like something heavy was dropped on them, keys don't crack that easy.

Liquid, especially sticky stuff can do a lot of damage and of course a foreign object or building up dust when a keyboard is not closed or covered when not in use.

I advice you to get the vacuum-cleaner out with a soft and small 'mouth' and carefully try to get everything 'foreign' from in between the keys.
Than, if needed, but be careful! I had more or less success with blowing a TINY bit of talcumpowder (baby- or footpowder) under and between the malfunctioning keys as a dry lubricant.
NEVER but NEVER use an oil-based lubricant!!! That will do serious damage.

I hope you can solve the problem. Let us know please so we can all learn from it.

Regards
Dick
