I have a Yamaha P200 keyboard and my keys have begun sticking. How can I fix this problem?

sticky keys

Sometimes alcohol gel squirted down the side helps with that kind of thing. That is,if there is no accompanying clicking noise, which might be the result of the keys coming out of alignment - causing the metal springy bit to hit the plastic bit... i speak from experience here.

re: sticking keys

If these are weighted keys the answer is that probably somebody spilled a sticky drink into the keys. If this keyboard has weighted keys, the "weight bar" which is connected to a key lands on a felt pad that is attached to the base. This dampens the key and reduces the noise of the key (specifically the weight) landing. This pad can get sticky and the weights can stick to it. This happened on mine. I cleaned the affected weights and it is better but because the drink saturated the pad, the weights just keeps getting stuck again. Not as bad as originally but it is annoying and makes for a non-uniform feel. Also, it makes more noise since some of the sponginess is gone. Bottom line, I ordered a new felt pad and I'm manning up to replace the existing one. There is a GREAT YouTube video showing how to take the keyboard apart and remove keys. I would have never guessed how to remove a key.
