Set Style does not work on my keyboard

by Catherine Dieu
(Nashville, TN (USA))

I followed the instruction how to set style from the manual as follows:
1. press the style button
2. select a style
3. turn on ACMP
4. turn on Sync

then play a left hand chord and it's supposed to play a style but nothing happened, just a regular touch tone as I'm playing piano.
Please advise. Thanks.

What model ??
by: Dick Rector

Hi Catherine,

You did not mention the model keyboard but do you have the same problem when you power up? As far as I know ALL models have a standard (preset) style when switched on.
Do first a factory reset (with most models hold the highest key (C6) turn power on and hold the key for a few seconds. Or see your manual.
If that does not solve the problem (unlikely) but is the midiclock maybe set to external (in most cases if yours it is not linked to other keyboards etc. it should be set to internal for normal use like at home)see your manual how to change the setting if this sounds like Chinese to you.
You can check this first by pressing a multipad button, if this gives no sound it is most likely the midiclock.
Is the STYLE volume (not overall volume) set to a correct level?
You did right to switch ACMP on (but did the little light came on?)
Is the splitpoint for ACMP (normally F#)set correct or has the fingering method maybe been changed.
Easy to check all these things if you have the manual handy and you can't go wrong, if you get lost just do a factory reset again.
Last thing, the style you want to load is that an internal style or external and if that is the case, is it suitable for your model keyboard?
I hope this will guide you a bit where to look for the problem.
Good luck,

Dick Rector
