by Kim
(Plymouth MA)

Is it possible to get a replacement for a broken key?

I have a yamaha p-90 electric piano with a broken B112 key and I'm hoping i can get a replacement for that key.

Broken key
by: Dick Rector

Hello Kim,

Is it really broken or stuck?
If it is broken you have to find a Yamaha repair person to do the job.
If it is only stuck, try a few blows around it with a compressed air-can and put a vacuum-cleaner on it.
Try to move it up and down.
If it moves but still a bit stiff, use a tiny bit of talcum powder next, in between and if possible under the bandit keys. Talcum powder (baby- or foot-powder)will work as a dry lubricant.
NEVER but NEVER use lubricant on an oil-base that will damage the keyboard.

Hope you can solve this problem. Will you let us know? Other people can learn from it.

Regards
Dick
