Regarding Yamaha PSR-403 and Casio CTK-810

by Niraj Vashi
(India)

Hello,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your effort of reviewing all these keyboards. I live in India.

I want to buy a keyboard which can expose me to as many musical genere as possble. In India Yamaha has launched PSR-i425 which is the same as psr-403 but some Indian tones are added in it. Casio has launched CTK-810in which is the same as CTK-810 but this one comes with a Pitch Bend Wheel.

I have the following queries:

1- The Casio Model has registration memory (32 (4 setups x 8 banks). I would like to know whether the Yamaha also has it?

2- The Casio model has some Ethnic percussions. Kindly let me know whether the Yamaha one also has.

Kindly advise me which is the better one for me overall. The Casio costs $275 and the Yamaha one costs $475.

Thanking you,

Niraj Vashi

Casio CTK810In is a very good keyboard. It has all the essential features which you can find in a high grade keyboard. Also,it can be used as a MIDI controller device,so you don't have to spend another 10000 for a MIDI controller. And the best part is that its MIDI info is send via AB type usb cable. In all,a great keyboard.

Casio CTK 810
by: Nishant Kr.

Bought one last week in Rs.10'600 inclusive of Bag & stand... Honestly, i bought it to double up as harmonium.. i am a classical trained (for 2 years) then turned guitarist (coz buying Keyboard or harmonium was out of my budget some 6 yrs ago).. I intented to get something good for rythem programming and the indian beats added to the flavour.. Within 11K, i dont think anyone else offers anything better than this.. totally happy.. after some 6 yrs have started practicing "alankar's".. :-)

very nice 810
by: Anonymous

I am shivesh shrivastava here in bhopal. I am a musician and guitarist and singer and composer. Before I had Yamaha PSR 295 but I always missed in that instrument our Indian tones. Eventually I saw that one of my friend had a casio810 and I sold my PSR and purchased 810. Since 2 year I am using it and I am totally satisfied with that, whatever I wanted I got in that instrument. Now I am so happy that in minimum cost I could get nice and useful instrument.

Casio-810IN
by: Aman

Hi,
Ashutosh, Casio has that limitation. It does not store your bank settings. every time you power off, your settings will be lost. Similar is for the recording on songs you play in it. Before switching it off, you will have to connect it to PC and transfer it. Yamaha has battery backup so can store Bank settings.
Yet I am satisfied with Casio-810IN...

Bought a new CTK 810in. The indian keys are a great help. Pitch bend ffuncton is also available though i have not used it still. Its a good buy, the cost of similar model (functionality wise)is for INR 11k. where as Yamaha is 18k... I am satisfied with Casio.
