PSR S900 versus PSR3000

by Isaac

I was wondering - I wanted to know if the PSR S900 is so much better than the PSR 3000 that it's worth it to buy it new, as opposed to buying the PSR 3000 used. Also, is that model - the PSR 3000 or the PSR S900 the highest model in the series - higher that the PSR 8000 or others like that (besides the Tyros)? Also, if I'm using the keyboard for live one man band performance with beats/styles, is this a good choice, or the Motif series will be better?

You should choose PSR S900
by: ESN

I asked the same question few month ago to nearest Yamaha dealer. They said, Yamaha will discontinu producing new PSR 3000 and starting producing PSR S900.

Well, if you need some spareparts or service, you will facing some trouble with PSR 3000 (used) ...

The button and managing PSR S900 is easier than PSR 3000, because Yamaha put important button on the surface of the keyboard (not in submenu LCD screen).

Some sound of PSR S900 is more realistic compare to PSR 3000 (Guitar, saxophone) The sound sliding, hammering, etc. Hmm, so natural ...

At Tyros price, you can get two PSR S900 ... So PSR S900 is good value, isn't it? (But PSR S900 doesn't have aftertouch feature, if you want to use it as a MIDI controller ... ).

Of course buy the S-900 !!!!!!!!!!!
by: satish sharma

I have had PSR-8000, PSR3000 and Tyros2. Don't compare the 8000 to the 3000. Much has flown down the Thames--times have changed. Quality of sound, styles, data storability and many more features are of course much better in the 3000 compared to the 8000. Logically, 3 years down the road when the 3000 came, the S-900 should definitely be significantly better. I don't think the Motif has a style/rhythm section. As a one man band you'd be wise to buy an S-900.

Yamaha Is The Best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by: S.M Rehan

I am a one man band I have used all kinds of keyboards you name it and I had that on stage with me.
Yamaha is the best on stage Yamaha has the best drums punch and bass guitar after PSR3000 I had PA800 for three months and that was the worst time ever well I am back to PSR s900 and I am very happy to have him back. You can't travel with PA800 only soft case hard case is too heavy.
For sounds I use VST no keyboard can top that

S900 versus PA800
by: Anonymous

Hi, some people says, that Korg PA800 has more realistic sounds. I have Korg Karma, well, they are right. But still, I remember old times, when I played Yamaha PSR740, and I must say, that Korg is too complicated for me, I really enjoy plaing Yamaha and I am thinking about purchasing S900 as second keyboard instead of PA800 and use it with Korg Karma. (I thing, it is very powerfull combination, using synth + aranger with styles)

PSR S900 of course!
by: Kenny

It shouldn't be that hard to choose between the S900 and psr3000. If you're a one man band then go for the S900; it definitely met my expectations. I used it also to perform with a live band...and it worked out fine, except for the weight and size...too big. For a live band I rather suggest the Korg Triton Le or his latest edition the Korg TR (?)

GO THE MOTIF XS WAY
by: Anonymous

Well if can actually think of going the Motif way, but make sure its the MOTIF XS (and not the older Motif classic or ES. This is because the Motif XS has a huge collection of arpeggiators and some or rather most of which can recognize chord changes pretty much the same way as an auto accomp keyboard. Moreover you can have as many as four of these arps running simultaneusly in sync. In fact the XS even has templates of these four parallel arps running side by side to give an accomp feel. Ech having five variations - not sure though about intro/ending ang and fills. so this is really auto accomp in disguise but sound quality being as good as it gets. I've heard them all kurzweil, korg M3, fantom - motif has the most refined sound.
