PROBLEMS WITH USB MIDI

by Marcus Wee
(Singapore)

Hi there, I would like to ask if anyone can advise me on this issue which I am facing..
I recently bought myself a USB MIDI cable, the cheaper type, and connected it to my p-70 (bought it 2years ago) with the IN going into the OUT and vice versa and to the USB port on my iMac. The mac recognizes the p-70 cause it popped up on the Audio Midi Utility but problem is, it seemingly is unable to translate the MIDI info it receives. I don't know if this has to do with cause I bought a roughly nearing 20USD MIDI CABLE or cause I'm doing something wrong somewhere. Logic doesn't seem to be able to translate the things I play. It only manages to capture like maybe 1 of every 100 times i press a key on the p-70. Also, when I look at the transporter in Logic, focusing on the MIDI IN section, everything seems messed up. I have another CME controller which is simple plug and play. don't know if there's some sort of conflict or osmething.

Please advice me on what to do anyone! Thanks.

Btw, the MIDI cable belongs to a brand called Z-TEK. I tried doing all sorts of searches and still no clue what to do.
