Power Surge for Yamaha Motif 8

by Eric
(Nyon, Switzerland)

I am here in Switzerland where power is 220. I inadvertently plugged into an outlet without my transformer. The unit is from the US and takes 120 instead of 220. It of course doesn't work now. I assume that I burned something up or something tripped. I don't know how to open it up although the bottom seems to be on hinges. Can anyone explain how to open up or what I can do? Thanks.

Wrong Voltage Motif 8

Dear Eric: I suggest you first read the comments made by Mantius, Dick Rector and me found in the main page of the Q & A title to the left of this message. ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU VALUE YOUR UNIT.
If you want to play it safe, I recommend you contact Yamaha's Hq in Europe to see what they say. This advice is not meant to avoid helping you, rather it is offered TO HELP YOU. Opening the unit and fiddling with the innards is an invitation to disaster. No offense meant as far as your DIY skills are concerned. Good luck.
