PLAYING BOTH Yamaha PSR970 AND TYROS 5 VIA MIDI CABLE

by JOHN CROSS
(BOLTON UK)

Hi

Currently I play my old Yamaha PSR 9000, and my new PSR 970 simultaneously via a Midi cable, giving me the opportunity to play 5 left hand voices; 2 right hand voice and 2 styles simultaneously, and I am now considering purchasing a Tyros 5.

However, before I spend £3500+ I would like to seek the advice of anyone who has already attempted this. In theory since the PRS970 and Tyros 5 have midi connections, and many of the voices, styles and memory files of the PRS 970 are based on the Tyros system, I assume that the two keyboards are compatible? I realise that each music file would need to be saved and opened separately i.e. via buttons/foot pedals

re purchase of keyboard
by: Terry Turner

Hello there, I am Terry Turner, a self taught British keyboard player, who was a drummer vocalist in London England and later in Florida USA. I only own a PSR 550 BUT it does everything that I require of it. As I am NOT capable of playing what you are intending, I cannot really advise you. Howeveer it seems to me that the best people to give you the answer you seek would be the Yamaha service center. There SHOULD be one in the UK somewhere, BUT failing that please contact me direct and I will get you the answer from the service center in USA. I only use my keyboard for creating and recording songs that I write. As an older guy I maybe DONT write the types of music you would be performing, so will not send you samples with this msg. Good luck to you. atune4u@gmail.com
