One key has twice the volume as the others

When playing with a set volume, when one particular key is played it is at least twice the volume as the others which is very annoying. Does anybody know what the problem is?

Key with a loud volume
by: Mantius

Sounds like there is a problem with the rubber contact below that particular key. I have experienced this problem in the past. I opened the keyboard and there was actually a hole in the strip of rubber that helps with touch response. I still have that keyboard, a Yamaha PSR4000 and the problem is still there.

I remember blocking the hole with electric tape. That helped for a short while but the problem came back. Looks like the only solution was to replace that length of rubber. At the time I never pursued it further.

Does this sound like what you're experiencing?

DIRTY CONTACT
by: DIPIP

I HAD THIS PROBLEM ON MY YPG625 LUCKLY IT WAS STILL UNDER WARANTY. THE TECHNICIAN TOOK THE KEYBOARD APART IN FRONT OF ME. IT WAS A DIRT PROBLEM. THE RUBBER STRIPS ALONG THE KEYBOARD ARE DEVIDED INTO SECTIONS . EACH STRIP IS FOR A GROUP OF KEYS. IT SEEMS THAT YOU CAN REMOVE ONE STRIP AND INTERCHANGE IT WITH ANOTHER STRIP AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. WHEN THE TECH DID THIS, THE PROBLEM KEY WAS OK BUT A KEY AT THE OTHER LOCATION TOOK ON THE LOUD SOUND PROBLEM. THE TECH SAID EACH KEY HAS MULTIPLE CONTACTS AND IF DIRT GETS IN IT, A LOUD NOTE IS ONE OF THE RESULTS. I WAS'NT THERE FOR THE CLEANING , I SUSPECT HE VACUUMED IT. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN WORKING GREAT FOR OVER A YEAR.I
