No Power - Yamaha PSR520

by Pizzazz
(Baltimore)

I have PSR520 and am getting no response when it is plugged in. I use a 15mA Max adaptor which has worked perfectly in the past. The adaptor still seem to work with other instrument that needs less current. The thing is I have not played my keyboard in a couple of years. now I get no response from this adaptor.

Could I just need a new adaptor or do I need a new keyboard?

Power Yamaha PSR 520
by: Alfred

Dear Pizzazz: Some food for thought:
1) Your 15 mA Adaptor may have a defective Secondary winding, still strong enough to power another keyboard, but no longer good enough for your Unit. 2) The Plug of the Adaptor may need cleaning with Electronic Contact Cleaner. 3) The Jack of your Unit may also need the same treatment. 4) Replacing the Adaptor seems to be the most practical move at this time. 5) Weigh the price of a new keyboard against repair cost(by a qualifieed technician - preferably Yamaha) tnen make a decision which suits your budget.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
