MusicSoft Downloader fails on Windows 7 or is my USB-MIDI interface incorrect?

I try to transfer songdata from my Yamaha CLP 320 to my computer. My computer runs on Windows 7. I have downloaded MusicSoft Downloader. The USB MIDI interface I use is from chord and has 'plug and play'. It is compatible with Windows XP and Vista, but my computer downloaded and installed the correct drivers when I plugged in the USB. It also shows up in device management, but not as an external hard drive in My Computer.
Now the problem is mainly MusicSoft Downloader. Yesterday I got as far as clicking on 'yes, i want to transfer data from my piano to my computer', but half way the operation my computer said there was no proper connection between my computer and the piano. Before I started the transfer, I had checked the connections (both MIDI in/output), they were judged 'ok' in MusicSoft Downloader.
Now everytime I run MusicSoft it crashes, no matter what option/button in MusicSoft I click on. If I shut it down and try to restart it, it doesn't show and I have to restart my computer or re-install the program they make it work again, after which it crashes again.
So, is MusicSoft the problem, or my Windows 7?
