midi setttings for portatone psr e403

Hi,

A complete novice here. I'm trying (and failing) to get my portatone to communicate with my pc.

I have Cubase LE sequencing software on my pc (windows xp) and they are connected via a usb cable.

Although they do recognise each other, I am unable to programme the yamaha's instruments in to cubase.

I am also struggling to transfer my user songs from the keyboard to cubase. Following the yamaha manual and the yamaha downloader cd-rom, I cannot get the back up files on to the pc.

Although they do seem to transfer to the downloader's temp. storage area, I can't find them on my pc and I am totally at a loss as to how I transfer my user songs as midi files.

Are they included in the back up files?? If they are, I don't know how to get them in to Cubase.

Not too sure I've made this as clear as I'd have liked. I hope somebody understands and can help this stupid (and frustrated) Englishman.
