MIDI problems

by Marian
(Greensboro, NC)

Hello,

I have owned an older CVP series clavinova for about six years now, but I just recently started recording my compositions on to the floppy disk drive provided with the instrument. I am aware that it is in a MIDI format, but I am definitely not a computer person so I haven't figured out if there even is a solution to my problem. When I tried to put the music I had recorded on to a computer through the floppy disk, the computer basically denied the MIDI format. I am guessing that the computer is not a device that supports MIDI. Is there anyway to convert the music I record on the Clavinova to a different format so that I can copy them on to CD's or other things through my computer? Or is there software that I could purchase that could convert the MIDI files from the Clavinova to a different format the most new computers support? It would be a real help if anyone could let me know!

Thanks,

Marian M

Software

There is a free downloadable program on the net called dbPowerAmp Music Converter. You can download it here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

It's pretty versatile you can convert videos and turn them into various audio files (waves, mp3's, etc.).

I'm sure it probably has MIDI converting capabilities also.

Piano to PC
by: Max Rubi

If your piano has right and left channel outputs and you have a sound card in your PC connect the line outputs to the line inputs on the PC sound card and play the recorded file into the PC. You will then have a .wav file of high resolution. This can be converted to MP3 or burned straight to disc as a .wav file which is what most commercial CD files or track are and can be played by any CD player.
All this assuming you have a decent sound card, appropriate cables (piano to PC) and a free recording program like NERO.
