Keyboard key with loud volume

Richard,

Sounds like there is a problem with the rubber contact below that particular key. I have experienced this problem in the past. I opened the keyboard and there was actually a hole in the strip of rubber that helps with touch response. In fact there were several breaks in the rubber and several keys were not functioning properly as a result. When this rubber becomes defective, the keyboard doesn't respond properly to the amount of pressure applied to the keys.

I still have that keyboard, a Yamaha PSR4000 and the problem is still there.

I remember blocking the hole with electric tape. That helped for a short while but the problem came back. Looks like the correct solution was to replace that length of rubber. At the time I never pursued it further.

Does this sound like what you're experiencing?

Let's see what another member has to say with regards to how that particular part can be ordered, if this is at all possible.

I am trying to help here but I'm not at all technical in that respect. I'm only a keyboard player, not a repair technician.
