Looked everywhere! My sustain/midi/lcd contrast board might be shot.

by Nick
(Denver)

Thanks before hand for any info! I am in need of this curcuit board i beleive. I tried to solder the sustain input back onto the board to get the sustain pedal to work. I checked connectivity throughout the board, and seems to be good! Now LCD screen is lit, but just all blue, no picture. Like the contrast knob is stuck on. So maybe I messed up this board while soldering, but I dont know! I checked ribbon wires before reinstall, and everything was fine! I was positive that what I did worked, but just made things more complicated. Its a DGX 505. This input board is found on most Yamaha modles right????
thanks so much!!

Sustain/MIDI/LCD Board Yamaha DGX 505
by: Alfred

Dear Nick: Some time ago I submitted a post on the risks of DIY repair work, tempering my comments with mention of TECHNICALLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS (POSSESSING ALL THE TOOLS AND TEST EQUIPMENT)being excluded. I hope you "fit the bill", and understand that what you want are answers and not a preaching. The best course of action now, MIGHT be to buy a Service manual.....

http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/result.php

.....and checking the cost of a new board By contacting the Yamaha Parts Dept...

www.yamaha24x7.com. Or call in for fastest service, at (714) 522-9011 or 1 800 940 6606 to place an order over the phone, using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Be sure to have the Model number of the product available so that accurate information can be provided.

Keep in mind that you will continue to court disaster if the above suggestions are not the solutions. The expense involved may make your efforts futile. Wish I could be more encouraging.
Keep well.
