Keyboard Notes with low sound

by William
(Miami, Fl.)

I have a YPG-635. On the treble side, right hand, the last three notes, A,B but especially C, require a lot of effort to play and still they do not sound right.
I have experience with the DGX-500 and being older, the sound is better than what my YPG gives me.
Can anyone give me a clue of what is happening? Keyboard needs an adjustment?

contact pads??
by: Dick Rector

Hi William,

Sounds very much like a broken underlay-contact-pad. Typical is no, low or very loud sound, two tones under one key etc.
Unless you are skilled, not really a DIY job.
If you go to PSRTUTORIAL.COM and look under PSR3000 there is a very good article with pictures what you have to tackle to replace it.
Yes for a different model, but the interior of most keyboards is very similar.
Mind...I am only guessing on a great distance.

Contact pads?

Thank you Dick for your comments. Fortunately, that is not the problem. I discussed what I was experiencing with a Yamaha Rep who advised me to go to the function button and check there for TRANSPOSE. Indeed, dialing values for transpose, on the negative side, brought back life into those keys but it also changes the pitch of the other notes. I am kind of confused because I do not have the ear yet to say if the middle C sounds like it should.
Also, because my ears have not been trained yet to recognize the sounds, if I keep the keys pressed I can hear a pitch sound that looks like a reverb sound but I am not sure on that.
A person with experience is going to take a look at the piano. I know the piano is find but there is a good possibility it needs a minor adjustment with which I am not familiar.
Thank you once again.
