Look for one with "weighted keys" or if you can't get that, ensure it is Touch sensitive, so it feels like a real piano to play.

Agree with previous, weighted keys will also be a little kinder to a less experienced touch. On a sound front, you cant beat any of the newer Yamaha voices. I have a PSRs500, and the Live Grand is as real as Ive heard..... x
