Keyboard, Humidity and salt air

by Santiago Robledo
(Oaxaca, Mexico)

I live on the beach in the tropics (Oaxaca, Mexico). My Yamaha YPP-200 is acting very strange, emitting very loud slightly out-of-tune tones when I hit certain notes while playing. The notes that act this way change from session to session. I need to know how to dismantle the piano and how to maintain it, repair it, and if possible, prevent damage due to humidity and salt air in this environment.
My name is santiago robledo and this is my first time using a blog. my email is santiago.lolaysanti AT gmail.com

Yamaha YPP 200

Buena suerte.

Same problem near ocean
by: Sue

I have had the same problem with my Yamaha YPG-635. I live on an island off the coast of Honduras. I contacted the dealer and was told to send it in for warranty repairs.

It cost over $400 to ship the keyboard back, and it took two months from the time they received it in the States until they got it repaired. I was told the parts were back ordered. It took another three weeks to get here after they finished fixing it. When I got it back, it worked well as a keyboard; however, the accompaniment features did not work.

It has been four months since I got it back, and some of the keys are no longer responding properly. I'm not going to bother sending it back in for repairs.

Does anyone know of a digital piano that works in a coastal environment?
