key weight

i am getting ready to take lessons and i have a psr-350

the instructor asked me the key weight ...i don't have a clue what this means is this important?
i have looked on all my literature and do not see anything mentioned

please advise

He wanted to know whether the keys were weighted (heavy) as opposed to non-weighted (light). The Yamaha PSR350 comes with light keys. A keyboard with weighted keys is more suitable to one who intends to learn piano. It helps one develop finger strength from the onset.
