I think it has a lot to do with the individual and their natural talent, but unless you put in some hard work you will never know how to play the keyboard.You can learn how to play the keyboard by ear or you can learn how to read music. The choice is yours. Many leading keyboard players can't read a single note of music. They simply play by ear.
